Cindy Lee Newhook

  It is with heavy hearts that the family of Cindy Lee Newhook announce her peaceful passing on October 30, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on June 17, 1960, in Markland and raised in Whitbourne, Newfoundland. Cindy moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta, at the age of 21, where she built a lifetime of cherished memories surrounded by family and friends. Cindy dedicated her career to caring for others as a Medical Secretary, known for her compassion, kindness, and professionalism. Cindy’s unselfish nature was evident in every aspect of her life. Throughout her life, Cindy exemplified generosity and humility, always placing the needs of others ahead of her own. Outside of work, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures — she loved reading, country music, Christmas movies, and sports, (particularly golf and curling). She enjoyed playing bingo, and especially treasured celebrating holidays and special occasions with those she held dear. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering love made her an extraordinary mother, sister, daughter, and friend to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Cindy is predeceased by her beloved parents, Reg and Madonna Mercer; her devoted husband, Perry Newhook Sr.; her parents-in-law, Hayward and Elizabeth Newhook; and her dear brother, Neil Mercer. She leaves behind her loving son, Perry ( Nicole Toliver ) Newhook Jr., who was the light of her life; her sisters Dale (Dennis) George, Paula (Ken) Smith, Wanda (Gerard) Murphy, Trudy (Neil) Linehan, and Shirley (Doug) Mercer-Boettcher; her brother Trevor (Wanda Drover) Mercer; her treasured granddaughter Briar Newhook, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and lifelong friends.
