It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Hazel Lottie Hobbs, who passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Home on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the age of 88. Predeceased by her husband, Munden Hobbs; her parents, Melina (née March) and Harold Gosse; her brother, Graham Gosse; her brother-in-law, Isaac Kelland; and her sister-in-law, Emily Gosse. Leaving to mourn and cherish her memory are her children, Scott and Wendy; her four special grandchildren, Justin, Megan, Chelsie (Rahul), and Nathan; her sisters, Vida Kelland and Alma (Richard) Kelly; her brothers, Lloyd (Peggy) Gosse and Bill (Sylvia) Gosse; her brother-in-law, Howard Hobbs; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Hazel was very proud of her children, grandchildren, siblings, and loved ones. She enjoyed crafts, music, and knitting. She was a kind, creative, and determined woman who loved learning new things. In her early years, Hazel worked as a teacher in Western Bay and St. Jones Within. She then worked in the medical field at Markland Hospital and as a medical stenographer at the Health Sciences Centre for many years. Hazel’s family would like to thank all family and friends for their support over the past couple of months, as well as extend a special thank you to Michelle and the wonderful staff at the Agnes Pratt Home for their exceptional care and compassion. Hazel’s family and loved ones will miss her deeply. She touched many lives and will always remain in our hearts. Lily Hobbs
Lily Hobbs January 26,1934-April 26,2026 It is with sadness we announce the passing of Lily Hobbs, of Whitbourne, at the age of 92 years. Lily is pre deceased by her parents, Thomas and Fanny Porter of Elliston, and sister, Mary Ward of Toronto. Left with a lifetime of loving memories are her husband of 64 years Howard, daughter Suzette, son-in-law Tracy Harris, and “grand-doodle” Sammy. She will also be lovingly remembered by her niece Susan Gilbert, and family of Pickering, Ontario; and special cousin “nephew” Tony Porter, and family of Elliston. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Holloway’s Funeral Home Whitbourne, from 630 pm to 830 pm. Funeral service on Wednesday, April 28, 2026, at 2pm, from St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Whitbourne. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather & Brother Freeman Lewis Gilbert 82 years old of Little Harbour East P.Bay. He passed away at the HSC St. John’s NL, Friday April 24th, 2026 after a short battle with cancer. Predeceased by his loving parents Uriah & Hilda (Upshall) Gilbert, Sister Rita Gilbert, Mother in-law Ethel Hann (Upshall) Father in-law Harry Hann & Brothers in-law Nelson & Eric Hann Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his devoted wife of 56 years, Florence (Hann) Gilbert, his sons Tony (Susanna) Gilbert, Trever (Alex) Gilbert, daughter Trudy Gilbert (Damian Bujold) Grandchildren John & Emma Gilbert, Sophia, Liam & Mateo Gilbert, Ella-Marie & Addison Beach. Sister Ada (David) Dicks, Brother in-law Lewis (Lorainne) Hann Sister in law Linda Lockyer (Hann) and a large circle of extended family and friends. Visitation to take place at The Salvation Army Church in Chance Cove NL on Monday, April 27, 2026 from 2-5pm & 7-9pm. Funeral Tuesday April 28, 2024 2pm and will be Live Streamed from The Salvation Army Facebook page for anyone who is unable to attend. Interment to follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery Little Harbour East. Reception to follow at The Salvation Army Church in Chance Cove.
