Morris Gordon Thorne, age 76 of Broad Cove passed away peacefully in Placentia on August 29, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 25th, 1950 Morris was the son of the late Cecil and Emily Thorne. Dad went on to build a fulfilling life, known by all for his strong character, hard work , and dedication to his family. As a father, Morris was a guiding light, a constant source of support, and deeply devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He took great pride in watching his family grow and sharing their milestones. Morris is survived by his children Desie (Lorraine) and Renee (Kurt). His grandchildren Kristen (Colin), Dustin, Jenesta (Cole), Logan, and Jakob. As well as his great grandchildren, the center of his world, Paisley, Mason, Arizona, and Bridger. His siblings Cyril (Joyce), Jim (Betty), Calvin (Evelyn),, Eric (Andrea), Lillian (Roy), Elaine (Billy), Jean (Kim), sister in law Beatrice Thorne, and a large number of nieces and nephews. Morris is predeceased by his son Morris Lee Thorne, Mother of his children Shelia Thorne, his wife Yvonne Thorne, as well as his brothers Lewis Pitcher and Cecil Thorne (Jr.) At Morris’s request cremation has taken place. There will be a private family service at a later date. You were our anchor, our steady guide walking through life right by our side. A daughter’s protector, a son’s best friend with a love so deep it will never end. Rest easy Pa, your work is done. Loved forever by your daughter and son.

Terrence Joseph Power August 17, 1940 – August 17, 2026   It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother, Terrence on his 86th birthday. Predeceased by his parents, James and Bridget Power, infant sister Mary Ellen, and brother Humphrey (Kitty, deceased). Also nephews Ronald Power, Shawn Power, and Richard Cull. He leaves to mourn his siblings, Arthur, James, Jr. (Kathy), Bernard (Mavis), Donald, David (Judy), Dennis (Janet), Rosemary (Darwen), Phillip (Susan), and Alphonsus. As well as a long list of neices, nephews, cousins, and friends. Terrence spent 6 years of his younger life in the Canadian Armed Forces as a member of the Royal Canadian Signal Corp. Later he moved to the Yukon Territory where he worked for various companies and later worked for the Yukon Government where he operated heavey equipment until he retired. He met many of his best buddies during this time especially Neil Freake. In his later years he returned to Chaple Arm and finally to Placentia. The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Beachside Manor in Placentia where he stayed for his last years. Our thanks also for the care at the Placentia Hospital as well as special thanks to Jim and Bess Pretty for their attention and visits to see him. Our brother Terrence has been cremated and is presently held at Holloway’s Funeral Home in Whitbourne. There will be no visitations and no church services. There will be a Mass held in Terrence’s name at a later date to be followed by a family burial.   May He Rest In Peace!

Brendan Keating Born February 7, 1957 Passed away August 3, 2026 It is with great sadness the family of Brendan Keating announce his passing on monday August 3rd. Formly from Mt. Arlington Hgts, Placentia Bay. Predeceased by his father Patrick, sister Sharon, brother Shawn, nephew Danny, and niece Kelly. Leaving to mourn his mother Genny, sisters Paulette (Wayne), Mona (Barry), Patsy, and Elexis (Dave). Brothers Wayne (Marie), Morris (Sheila), Darrell, John (Wanda), and Paddie (Trish). Special thanks to the staff at Westberry Estates Retirement Living where he was a resident for the last few years. Thanks to HSC who tried their best to save him, many thanks to Ken and Nancy of  the NLAD Community Support whose been with Brendan for many years. Brendan has been cremated. A celebration of life and burial will take place at a later date.  

Dackenic Franceen Drover ( Smith ) February 02,1962 – August 09,2026 Dackenic Drover of Blaketown, passed away on August 09,2026 at the age of 64. She was born to Vernon and Beatrice Smith to a large loving family with 13 brothers and sisters. She grew up in Dildo with a love for softball, squidding, picking blueberries and completing a big puzzle. She married Wade Drover on February 9th , 1985 and moved to Blaketown to star their family. Left to mourn are her children Shawn ( Jennifer), Terri ( Morgan ) and Nycki ( Andrew )and what we all know was her favourite, her grandchildren Ethan, Braden, Luna, Shawna, Jasmine and Asteria. Also left to mourn are her sibling’s Rick (Barb), Randy (Cheryl), Gail ( Steve), Robin (Melvin), Tina ( Paul), Velvet ( Dennis), Veona, Roxanne ( Ed), Deeann ( Bern), Holly, Dana ( Chantal) and sister-in-law Janice. Also leaving her sister-in-law Rosalind Harwood who was her partner in crime, and a huge circle of nieces and nephews. She leaves so many friends who were honestly just like family to her and Mr. Todd Drover her beloved cat and Otter our nervous wreak. Predeceased is her husband Wade, her parents Vernon and Beatrice, Parent-in-law’s Malcolm, Ella and step-father Nelson, brother’s Roger and Rocky, and brother’s-in-law Perry and Keith. Sister-in-law Theresa. Dackenic believed in treating everyone as if they were her own. As a result I have received many messages saying they loved her as a mom. I 100% believe this. She was the person you called when you needed someone in your corner, the person you went to for “tough” love, yet she will help you pick up the pieces and ensure you were put back together in better shape. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Andrew Norman from Long Harbour, Newfoundland announce his passing on August 10, 2026 at the age of 95. Andrew was a man of remarkable strength and determination. He will be forever remembered for his thoughtfulness, “Norman Humour” and ability to tell a great story. He loved fishing, hunting, reading and spending time with his family and friends. Above all, Andrew adored his wife of 60 years, Lucy. Their journey together was filled with love, laughter, cherished memories, and the joys and challenges of a lifetime. Their marriage was a true example of commitment and devotion. Together they raised a beautiful family. He was the loving father to three sons; Terry (Lee-Anne), Loyola (Penny) and Stephen (Connie) and one daughter Marie (Scott), and a very proud Grandfather “Pop” to nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest legacy, and the love he gave them will continue through every generation. A private family service will be held to honour and celebrate his life. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Andrew’s memory to The Ronald MacDonald House.

Robert Clarke: May 17,1932 – August 6,2026   It is with heavy heart that we, the family of Robert James Clarke (Bob), announce his passing at the age of 94 years. Predeceased by his wife Agnes (nee Smith), son Robert, daughter Karen Audrey Linehan, son-in-laws John Hepditch and Warrick Hoskins. Also his parents Harry and Martha, six siblings Mary, Audrey, Ruby, Bessie, Violet, and Selby, as well as his special friend Bill Peddle. Leaving to mourn his brother Silas (Jean), daughters Debbie (Garry), Valerie, Cindy, Melanie, and sons Terry (Nancy) and Steve (Erika), daughter- in-law Lori, son- in-law Scott Linehan, as well as eighteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Bob was a family man who was seldom seen without a pick, hammer, or trouting rod. He always had a joke or story to tell. Wherever Bob was laughter followed. A hardworking man, life well lived. Cremation has taken place, visitations will take place at Holloway’s Funeral Home in Whitbourne on Saturday, August 8th from 7:00pm – 9:00pm and Sunday, August 9th from 2:00pm – 5:00pm.
