Holloway Ruby Margaret Ethel Sept. 27, 1957 – March 3, 2026 Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on March 3rd, 2026, surrounded by the love of her husband and son, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents George Marsh and Alice Blundell, stepfather Ralph Blundell, brother Harvey Marsh, parents-in-law Job and Shirley Holloway, grandparents Adam and Maggie Marsh and James and Ethel Simmons; brothers-in-law Freeman Patey and Ricky Holloway, sister-in-law Esther Holloway. Left with cherished and loving memories are her husband of 48 years Garry Holloway; son Jeffrey Marsh (Melanie); grandsons Gabriel and Kye; godchildren Christopher O’Dell and Haley Rees; brothers Garfield Marsh (Doreen), Roy Marsh (Betty); sisters Sharline Lambert, Vera Patey, Maxine Watton (Levi), Sylvia Vardy (Howard), Ina Marsh, Rosalind Mews (Chris); brother-in-law Terry Holloway (Mondella); sister-in-law Dorothy Holloway (Harold), and a large circle of relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed by so many who knew and loved her. Ruby was born in Hickman’s Harbour but spent most of her life in Whitbourne. When she wasn’t working at their family business, Holloway’s Funeral Home, Ruby spent countless hours crocheting baby caps and making baby quilts for the Janeway which she donated every year. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Carbonear General Hospital for their care, compassion, and comfort during her brief stay; her family doctor, Dr. Parsons; and the doctors and nursing staff at the Health Sciences Center and the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center for their care over the past seven years. The family would also like to thank friend Crystal Johnson and her home support workers, in particular Leanne Williams, for their compassionate care when Ruby wanted to be at home. William Edward Reid
William Edward Reid (April 1, 1936 – February 26, 2026) Dad, your work on this earth is complete. With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of William Edward Reid, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 26, 2026, at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his soulmate, best friend and love of his life, Sarah Myrtle Reid. His parents, Sarah Thorne and James Edward Reid; his siblings, Harry Reid (Eileen), Doreen Branton (Clayton), Edna Thorne and Gary Thorne. His mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jack and Jean Best and brothers-in-law Charles Ridgeley and David Butler. Extended family members Richard, Charles, and Winston Thorne. He is survived by his children; John (Josephine), Rita (Douglas Norman), Murdock (Ruth), Scott (Rubyann), Sheila (Keith Clarke), Kimberly (Darcy Smith) and Denise (Conrad Brown); his 15 cherished grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. His siblings, Dorothy Ridgeley, Pheobe (Eric Thorne), Garfield (Verly), and Reginald (Marjorie) Thorne. Rosalind Constance Janes (Murrin)
It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, nan and great grandnan, Rosalind Constance Janes (Murrin). She lost her battle on March 25, 2025 at the age of 78. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Ralph, married for 59 wonderful years. She is leaving to mourn her 4 children, Angela, Ralph Jr (Bo) (Patsy), Michael and David (Cathy). The light of her life, her 6 grandsons, Jordan (Lindsay), Devin (Katelyn), Stephen (Christina), Spencer (Camille), Christopher (Farnaz) and Tyler (Joyce). Her absolute love of all her 4 great grandchildren, Carly, Ellie, Ava and Wyatt The family wishes to thank everyone for their kind expression of sympathy and all acts of kindness during this difficult time. Donald George Hancock
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald George Hancock age 60, He passed peacefully away on November 14th,2023, at Carbonear General Hospital. Born September 23rd,1963 in Toronto, Donald was a man of great kindness, love and unwavering dedication. Donnie has now joined his parent Claude and Shelia Hancock , brother Raymond Hancock and Brother- in- law Wayne Cates, Also a dear uncle Delbert Madeley. Parents-in-law Francis and Ellen Pinsent. He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years Ellen Susan Hancock, and their children, Tiley, Victoria (Barry), Jasmine (Jack) and Alex. Donnie was also a cherished poppa to Gabriel and Theo Hancock. He leaves behind his sister, Deborah Cates and her children Beau (Melissa ), Colleen, sister in law Cheryl and her children Kayla (Anthony), Meagen, and Aunt Margret Madeley. Donnie Will be fondly remembered for his strong family bonds and special connections he shared with his extended family. He touched the lives of his Brothers-in-laws Eugene (Barbra), Joe(Dawn),Ronald (Mary-Ann), Gary(Shelia) and Philip. Sister-in-laws Theresa (Garfield),Florentine (Dennis), Diane (Wayne). He was a loving uncle to his 25 Nieces & Nephews and adored his 15 Great Nieces & Nephews. Eleanor Piercey
Eleanor Piercey March 22, 1967 – June 17, 2022 Eleanor passed away peacefully at the age of 55 years at Northern Lights Regional Hospital in Fort McMurray, Alberta in the presence of her good friend, Bobbi Morgan and family. Predeceased by parents, Margaret and Gordon Piercey; sister, Ivy Piercey Sorenson; and brother, Lindsay Piercey. Leaving to mourn her fur baby, Sasha (the pride and joy of her life); sisters, Frances (Peter, deceased); Clara (Dave) Moores; Kathleen (Pete) Hopkins; Irene (Shawn) Piercey; brothers, Clifford (Bonnie) Piercey; and Leo (Rosie) Piercey. Also, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends here in NL and Fort McMurray, Alberta. Thank you to the Compton family of Fort McMurray for being her special neighbors and friends for the last 22 years.
