  • Alfreda (Newhook) Piercey died peacefully on October 23rd at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 80.

    She is predeceased by parents Gordon and Sarah Jane (Peddle ) Newhook. Daughter Pansy Bernice; Sister; Irene Martin (Nelson), brother; Alphonsus (Elizabeth); Gerald (Marilyn).

    She leaves to mourn her beloved Husband Wesley; and Her 4 children Donna Butt, Margaret Traverse (Chris), June Schappert (Rick) and Matthew Piercey (Carolyn) and her grandchildren Justin, Maggie, Matthew, Grant, Michael, Bradley and Eli. Her great grandchildren; Kayden, Taylor, and Colten. She leaves behind siblings Janet White (Cliff), Gordon (Maureen), Richard (Lucy), Dallas Peach (Calvin), Mark, Jane White (Bert), Herman (Hazel). And a large circle of extended family and friends.

    Visitation for family will be held at Holloway’s Funeral Home in Whitbourne on October 24th from 7-9 pm. A funeral will be held in her honour at Normans Cove on Saturday, October 26th at 2 pm at Bethel United Church. Donations can be made in Alfreda’s memory to The Canadian Cancer Society.

    So sorry to hear of Alfreda’s passing. I have fond memories of her and Wes’s visits to our house, singing around the piano and cups of tea around the coffee table. She and Mom were very good friends and shared many hours together. I remember Mom’s concern for her when Alfreda went through serious health issues. Keep her memory close to your hearts.
