  • It is with shattered hearts we announce the passing of Robert (Rob) James Clarke Jr of Whitbourne. Rob passed away peacefully in his home on the 25th of December after a courageous battle with cancer at 57 years of age. Surrounded by his Family and loving wife of 31 years, Lori (nee Cardwell) Rob slipped quietly away.

    Rob is predeceased by his mother Agnes (nee Smith), his father in law Ernest Cardwell Sr. Left to mourn are his devoted loving soulmate and wife Lori as well as his children Carson, Brandon and Emily, who he was extremely proud of. Also his Father Robert Clarke Sr, sisters Valerie (John), Debra (Gary), Cindy (Gerry), Karen Linehan (Scott), Melanie and brothers Terry (Nancy) and Steven (Erica). In addition his mother in law Elizabeth (Betty) Cardwell, brother in law Ernie Cardwell Jr (Joanne), and Sisters in law Beverly Gosse (Calvin) and Arlene Jean (Marc). And Special friend Claudine. Rob was especially close with his Uncle Silas as well as numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts extended family and an enormous circle of friends.

    Rob, a devoted husband and dad, was a kind-hearted and gentle man who truly believed in Family above all else. A truly remarkable craftsman, Rob excelled as a carpenter, woodworker, painter and photographer. Rob was a mentor and coach to so many, never hesitating to share his knowledge or lend a helping hand to anyone in need. An avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and gardener, Rob loved ‘The woods’ where he and Lori spent countless hours together. A tremendously peaceful soul, Rob will be eternally remembered as a glowing example of the paramount importance of Family.

    Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Holloway’s Funeral Home in Whitbourne from 2:00 – 4:30 and 6:00-9:00 PM on Saturday Dec 28 and 2:00-4:30 and 6:00-9:00 PM on Sunday the 29th. The funeral service will be held at the Anglican Church in Whitbourne on Monday the 30th at 2 PM.

    In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Robert Clarke Jr Memorial Fund.

    To Lori and all the family, I am sorry to hear if Rob's passing. Such a shame- so much love, so much given , and so much left to give. The sting of death causes so much pain. longing ,emptiness, and loneliness, and we left to ponder why. Please know u will be in my thoughts and prayers. Memories r soothing friends and family r comforting. Cling to those. God is always with you. He knows your sorrow. Love and hugs.

    So very deeply saddened to hear of Rob’s passing. I knew of him in two capacities, one has a devoted parent, and two, as a well loved brother. My heart goes out to his family at this most difficult time. I’ll be thinking of you all in the coming days. Hugs my friends!

    Lori and family, I am so Saddened to hear of Rob's passing. He was an amazing person. Anyone who knew Rob knew of his love for his family, especially you, Lori. You were his best friend. I've never seen Rob without a smile... I doubt if many have. That just speaks of the type of person he was. My sincerest Condolences, my heart aches for you all. Rejoice in the many, amazing memories that you have. Lean on that in the many days ahead. Rest easy Rob. Heaven has gained another orchard for the Masters bouquet.     Lori, Our hearts go out to you and the kids at this very sad time. On hearing of Robs passing, I was drawn back to the weekends and summers as teenagers when we all hung out together and got up to our own share of mischief. We had so much fun.     To the Clarke family, I'm so sorry to hear of Rob's passing. Although most of the years that our family (Gerald and Rowena's) spent with "Aggie's crowd" pre-dated me, I always heard fond memories and nothing but wonderful things about all of you.
