Thomas Lahey

November 20, 1928 – October 8, 2021

Passed peacefully away at the Veterans Pavilion St. John’s on Friday October 8, 2021, Korean War Veteran, Thomas Lahey age 92 years.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Lucy, parents-in-law Andrew and Sarah Power, brothers Joseph and Michael, sisters Agatha, Margaret Ann, and Dora, first-born twins Theresa and Jerry.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Bride (Power) of 61 years, his 7 children Theresa (Gord), Jackie (Ron), Jerry (Jennifer), Elaine (Cliff), Andy, Tommy (Avril), David, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a large number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

A sincere thank-you to Dr. McKelvie, Dr. Abumus, and the nurses and staff at the Whitbourne Clinic and Carbonear Hospital. To the doctors, nurses, and staff at Veterans Pavilion, heartfelt gratitude for your professional and compassionate care during his final days.

Thank-you also to the Sisters and Father Tony who visited and prayed with Tom.

Not forgetting his compassionate home support worker Clarice Newhook and his dear friend Ted Newhook who spent so much time with Tom and was a faithful travel companion to monthly Legion meetings.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to and will occur at Holloways Funeral Home, Whitbourne and will take place Tuesday, October 12.

​​The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a private service at the funeral home from 12:30 to 1:00, visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00, and funeral service (by invitational only) will be held at 3:00, to be followed by interment at St. Joseph’s RC Cemetery, Long Harbour Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tom’s memory to the Parkinson’s Society NL.

  1. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all at this time. Mr. Lahey was a wonderful person. He took part in our Holy Family Remembrance Day services for many years. We loved listening to him and we all learned so much from him. Rest In Peace Mr. Lahey 🙏🏻

  2. Our condolences to Bride and all the family. I have many fond memories of Tom. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a joke every time he visited the Pharmacy. He was the type of person who always put a smile on your face. Rest in peace Tom.
