Lynch, Peter, (Pete). In the presence of those who loved him, on Wednesday, February 16th after a very brief stay at the Carbonear Palliative Care Unit, Pete passed peacefully away after a valiant battle with lung cancer.
Predeceased by his parents; Jeremiah (Jerry) and Mary (Molly) Lynch, brothers; John Sr., Daniel, Vincent, sister; Rosemary (Tony), and four legged companion; Casper. Left to mourn with dear memories are his son; Peter, daughter; Wanda (and her Mother Emeline), Aunt Mary Ballard, brothers; Sylvester (Joan), Jerry (Dorothy), Leonard (Julia), Michael (Geraldine), John (Pamela), Gregory (Manon), sisters; Germaine, Helen (Tom), Yvonne (Charles), Hannah (Clayton), Toni (Calvin), Mary (Mark), canine best friend; Buddy and a very large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special thank-you to his caregivers Bernice and Doreen who offered care as well as friendship.
It is difficult to find the words to describe the strong and persevering nature of Pete. As the old proverb goes, there was a time when ships were made of wood and men of iron, Pete was most definitely one of the last of the iron men. He not only demonstrated physical strength in cutting and hauling wood, building boats, often doing more work than a man with two good legs, but he also was strong of mind; he overcame hardships throughout the years that allowed him to become the man that will be fondly remembered. Described by community members as one of their favorite, Pete will be deeply missed in his hometown community of Bellevue.
Cremation has taken place, due to current public health restrictions, a funeral and burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can either be made to Buddy the dog who will be staying with family or to Clarenville SPCA: https://clarenvilleareaspca.ca/ways-to-help/donate

Sorry to hear about Peter. He was a big part of Bellevue. Even my kids remember him from when we would go home for summer vacation. When they were younger. Hopefully he will be able to look out over the bay. And his fishing grounds.

Our sympathies to the family. Pete was one in a million. He always stopped to talk or had a wave as he and Buddy drove by on his bike.

I’m very sorry to hear of Pete’s passing. I got to know him well when we worked together on the TCH construction during the summer of 1965. Sincere condolences to his family.
