  • HOSKINS, Larry (1954-2023)

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Larry Frederick Hoskins which occurred on Thursday, February 2 2023. Born in New Harbour on February 23 1954 to the late Wilfred and Marie (Ross), predeceased by brothers Terry and Warrick, brother in law Gerald, parents in law William and Dorothy Baldwin, brother in law Albert and Phonse and sister in law Betty and Verna.

Larry was married to his loving wife Linda (Baldwin) for 46 years and was a dedicated father and role model to Shawn and Joanne (Justin Budgell). He was always thrilled to spend time with his precious grandchildren; Cole (his Mom Angie), Reed, Rohen and Brie.

Also leaving to mourn his loving family; sister Diane (Bill Sooley), Tammy (Tony Engle), brothers Doug (Alice), Keith (Jocelyn), sister in law Sheila, sister in law Yvonne (Randy Mercer), Brenda (Tony Moore), Kelly (Dennis Lundrigan). Brothers in law Bill (Donna Baldwin) and Don.

He will be dearly missed by his many nephews and nieces who all have a special place in their hearts for their “Uncle Larry”.

Larry could always be found up fishing the rivers, hunting or out in his beloved boat “Miss Brie”. He always looked forward to his many adventures up to the cabin, or just sitting around the table with his many life long friends.

Both in his personal and work life, Larry deeply appreciated his friends, family and work colleagues. He dedicated much of life to his work at Ice Water Seafoods which he truly enjoyed.

A special thank you to all his caring doctors and nurses at the Carbonear and St. Clare’s Hospitals.

He was a beautiful soul, always with a tear in his eye and ready for a warm embrace. He will be missed every single day.

    Visitation on Saturday from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Sunday 10:00 -12:00, 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Monday 10:00 – 12:00.  Funeral service Monday, February 6 at 2:00 pm from the United Church, Blaketown.

Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the United Church Cemetery, Markland.

Our Hearts are broken with the passing of our Good Friend Larry Hoskins . We spent a lot of time Camping with Larry, Linda, Shawn and Joanne. Our Children grew up together We had a few trips to P E I, camping along the way. We camped at Sir Richards Park in Cormack NL for many years. The men would get up at 3am in the morning to go fishing and would come back to the Campers around Lunch time to have Breakfast or Lunch and of Course a Nap. We watched our Children grow up together. Larry was a quite a Gentle Man. He loved his Family fiercely. We will always be grateful for his Friendship. Rest in Peace our Good Friend.
