Clement William Temple

January 2, 1934 – July 26, 2025

It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we share the passing of Clement Temple on July 26, 2025, at the age of 91. A man of unwavering kindness, strong faith, and boundless love for his family, Clement leaves behind a legacy that will continue to echo through generations.

Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Dorcas and his siblings; Clement is now reunited with the love of his life, Doris, his beloved son Robert, his son-in-law Kevin and cherished grandson Brent. Though we are heartbroken by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he’s back with them, likely sharing a laugh once again.
Born on January 2, 1934, Clement built a beautiful life alongside his beloved wife, Doris in Long Cove, NL. Together, they raised 8 children: Christine, Robert (Velma), Janice (Brian), Lois (Rick), Judy (Keith), Roger (Cathy), Wesley (Wanda), Jody (Nora). From their love, grew a vibrant and close-knit family that now includes 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Clement and Doris were the heart of it all – a true partnership that showed everyone around them what love, commitment, and family really mean. Their marriage was full of laughter, music, resilience, and tenderness. Whether dancing in the kitchen or quietly supporting each other through life’s trials, they showed us the kind of love that lasts a lifetime.
Clement was the anchor at every gathering, the chef for every occasion, and the voice of every celebration. Whether it was a backyard fire, a holiday feast, or a wedding banquet, Clement made sure everyone was fed and felt at home. His legendary cooking brought people together, and he once had the honor of preparing a meal for none other than Johnny Cash – a story he loved to tell with a smile and a sparkle in his eye.

A gifted singer with a voice full of heart, Clement often sang at his grandchildren’s weddings, filling the room with warmth, pride, and a few happy tears. He had a love for all animals, especially his dog Abby and cat Smokey. His connection with his church community was strong and lasting – his friendships there were a constant source of joy and support throughout his life.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him — especially by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, special nephew RandyWhitten, good friend Gorm Temple and the many others whose lives he touched with his generous heart, sharp wit, and ever-ready apron.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the homecare workers “His Girls” (Joanne, Paula, Anne and Clarice) who cared for dad over the past three years. You each held a special place in his heart, he loved you all.

Visitation will be held at the Bethel United Church in Norman’s Cove on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 2:00pm. Inurnment to follow at a later date. The family welcomes everyone to join them after the service for a Celebration of Life at the Community Center. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Holloway’s Funeral Home in Whitbourne.

  6. I had just arrived in Newfoundland, which was later to be my home, on arriving at the airport I was whisked off to the Delta Hotel where my husband and I were guests of Jody’s for a boxing match, this is where I first met Clemie what a sweet kind man, and funny as hell, as I approached the table he grabs a chair tells Bobby to move over and plunks what would be my chair for the rest of the night between the two of them, never have I been made to feel so welcomed and laughed so hard as I did that night. Clemie truly was what every mainlander imagines a Newfoundlander to be. Kind, sweet , welcoming, and genuine to the core. I want to thank Jody for introducing me to this wonderful man, that him and his siblings have the privilege to call dad.
My heart goes out to all of you.
