Ruby Marsh-Holloway

Holloway
Ruby Margaret Ethel
Sept. 27, 1957 – March 3, 2026

Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on March 3rd, 2026, surrounded by the love of her husband and son, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Predeceased by her parents George Marsh and Alice Blundell, stepfather Ralph Blundell, brother Harvey Marsh, parents-in-law Job and Shirley Holloway, grandparents Adam and Maggie Marsh and James and Ethel Simmons; brothers-in-law Freeman Patey and Ricky Holloway, sister-in-law Esther Holloway.

Left with cherished and loving memories are her husband of 48 years Garry Holloway; son Jeffrey Marsh (Melanie); grandsons Gabriel and Kye; godchildren Christopher O’Dell and Haley Rees; brothers Garfield Marsh (Doreen), Roy Marsh (Betty); sisters Sharline Lambert, Vera Patey, Maxine Watton (Levi), Sylvia Vardy (Howard), Ina Marsh, Rosalind Mews (Chris); brother-in-law Terry Holloway (Mondella); sister-in-law Dorothy Holloway (Harold), and a large circle of relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed by so many who knew and loved her.

Ruby was born in Hickman’s Harbour but spent most of her life in Whitbourne. When she wasn’t working at their family business, Holloway’s Funeral Home, Ruby spent countless hours crocheting baby caps and making baby quilts for the Janeway which she donated every year.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Carbonear General Hospital for their care, compassion, and comfort during her brief stay; her family doctor, Dr. Parsons; and the doctors and nursing staff at the Health Sciences Center and the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center for their care over the past seven years. The family would also like to thank friends, Gladys Cooper and Levi Temple for all they help they have done over the years, Crystal Johnson and her home support workers, in particular Leanne Williams, for their compassionate care when Ruby wanted to be at home.

At Ruby’s request, cremation has taken place. A family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Janeway Children’s Hospital; a cause that Ruby was very passionate about.

  6. Gary and Family,
I am saddened to learn of Ruby passing.
I extend my deepest sympathy and prayers to you at this sad time.
I love coming to the funeral home in some of the sad moments of my ministry in Whitbourne because there I found peace and love because Ruby and myself held a special relationship through laughing and sharing some story or a joke. We had many laugh together.
She is now free from pain and suffering and I believe she is now sharing in a new home in God’s Kingdom.
Rest in Peace my friend, Ruby
