Dackenic Franceen Drover ( Smith )
February 02,1962 – August 09,2026
Dackenic Drover of Blaketown, passed away on August 09,2026 at the age of 64. She was born to Vernon and Beatrice Smith to a large loving family with 13 brothers and sisters. She grew up in Dildo with a love for softball, squidding, picking blueberries and completing a big puzzle. She married Wade Drover on February 9th , 1985 and moved to Blaketown to star their family.
Left to mourn are her children Shawn ( Jennifer), Terri ( Morgan ) and Nycki ( Andrew )and what we all know was her favourite, her grandchildren Ethan, Braden, Luna, Shawna, Jasmine and Asteria. Also left to mourn are her sibling’s Rick (Barb), Randy (Cheryl), Gail ( Steve), Robin (Melvin), Tina ( Paul), Velvet ( Dennis), Veona, Roxanne ( Ed), Deeann ( Bern), Holly, Dana ( Chantal) and sister-in-law Janice. Also leaving her sister-in-law Rosalind Harwood who was her partner in crime, and a huge circle of nieces and nephews. She leaves so many friends who were honestly just like family to her and Mr. Todd Drover her beloved cat and Otter our nervous wreak.
Predeceased is her husband Wade, her parents Vernon and Beatrice, Parent-in-law’s Malcolm, Ella and step-father Nelson, brother’s Roger and Rocky, and brother’s-in-law Perry and Keith. Sister-in-law Theresa.
Dackenic believed in treating everyone as if they were her own. As a result I have received many messages saying they loved her as a mom. I 100% believe this. She was the person you called when you needed someone in your corner, the person you went to for “tough” love, yet she will help you pick up the pieces and ensure you were put back together in better shape. She was the strong person we all thrived to be in stressful situations, with a get it done attitude.
Dackenic was always down for a adventure, wheather it was a game of cards, or a road trip across the island. She always told us ” I’m here for a good time, not a long time”. She loved life, loved to make memories. She loved her grandkids dearly, they were the light of her life and brought her so much joy.
I wanted to say a heart felt thank you to everyone for all their love and support though this difficult time. A big thanks to the paramedics, all of her doctors and nurses over to Carbonear General Hospital. They went above and behind for mom. The funeral home for helping us get all the arrangements for moms final goodbye. A Hugh thank you to all of the family and friends that sat with us at the hospital and have been around since. There are too many to name individual but know that we love all of you. If I have left anyone out please know we did not do it on purpose. Thanks to everyone. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 13th from 10:00am – 8:00pm. Everyone is invited to meet at Holloway’s Funeral Home @ 2:00pm on Friday August 14th for the procession to the Anglican Cemetery in Blaketown for the interment to take place at 3:00pm.

We’re so sorry to hear about Dackenics passing. I remember when she moved to Blaketown. She was a friend to all us kids, then I worked with her at Mary Browns omg she was so much fun to work with. She was a sweetheart. RIP 🙏
