Winston Mercer

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Winston Harold Mercer (June 23/1941 to June 24/2026). Predeceased by father Harold , mother Susie and son David, brother George and sister Leta Williams, brother in law Gower Williams. Leaves to mourn his wife Vera, daughter Sandra Perry (Andy), son Ron (Tina) and his beloved granddaughter Suelynn Perry. He also leaves to mourn brothers Fred (Bernadette), Joe (Pam) and sisters Lillian and Margaret Cumby (Rick), and sister in law Margaret Mercer (wife of brother George), as well as a wide family of cousins,  nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. Winston was an active member in the community, through his service to his church and his work with the Lions Club. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed being in the woods, working on old cars, and above all spending time with his granddaughter SueLynn. She was the light of his life . A special thanks from the family goes out to Garry Philips. Garry and dad met for coffee most mornings,  talked about old cars and world affairs. They knocked around like two retired buddies should, telling stories and having great laughs. Garry’s friendship meant a great deal to Winston and he was very thankful for his friendship with Garry and his wife Debbie. Visitation will take place at Holloway’s Funeral Home in Whitbourne on Sunday June 28/2026, from 1 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held at St Barnabas Anglican Church in Blaketown on Monday June 29/2026 at 2 pm

Raymond Smith

SMITH, Raymond November 9, 1933 – June 17, 2026 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Raymond Smith, aged 92 years, of Long Cove, passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, with his family by his side. Predeceased by his wife, Sarah; parents, Isabella (Temple) and Walter; parents-in-law, Myrtle and Elijah Smith; brother-in-law, Charles Peddle; sisters-in-law, Eileen (Don) Stuckless and Ruby Smith; and son, Derek. Leaving to mourn are his children: Vernon, Karen (Dwayne), Sherry (Francis), Gloria (Scott), and Tammy (Ian); grandchildren: Trina (Nathan), Crystal (Bob), Debbie (John), Heidi, Natasha (Jared), Justin, Jonathan (Jessica), Alyssa (Pierre), Amanda (Sean), and Kayla (Cody); great-grandchildren: Gavin, Xander, Jamie, Alexis, Logan, Zoey, Tyler, McKenna, Sadie, Levi, Brynley, and Dawson; sister-in-law, Marcie Peddle; and brother-in-law, Harrison (Fronie) Smith, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Raymond was a devoted family man whose greatest joy was spending time with those he loved. He was happiest surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and took great pride in each of them. An avid outdoorsman, Raymond enjoyed hunting and fishing and cherished the time spent on the land and water. His quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always and deeply missed by all who knew him. Resting at Good Shepherd Anglican Church, Norman’s Cove. Visitation: Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, followed by interment at Good Shepherd Anglican Cemetery.
