Joan Daisy Masters, a cherished mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother

remarkable age of 100.

Joan is predeceased by her husband, Samuel Masters, her
grandson Darrell Collett and son-in-laws Fred Leaman and Norman Collett.

She is survived by her four children, Wendy, Doreen (Roy), Beryl (Bruce) and Brian
(Sherry); her ten grandchildren Norma, Chris (Louisa), Dennis (Cristina), Sheila,
Steven (Lori), Michelle (Pierre), Kim (Jack), Jeremy (Amanda),

Joan was born in Kent, England on November 19, 1925. During World War
II, Joan enlisted and was an active member of the British Land Army. It was
during that time that Joan met and married Samuel, a member of the
Newfoundland Regiment. As a British war bride she travelled the ocean in
1946 to begin a new life in Fairhaven, Newfoundland. It was here that Joan and
Samuel created a home and life where they raised their family and became part
of the community.

Those who knew Joan will remember her gentle grace, her steadfast nature and
the stories she told from a century well lived. Joan found great joy in the simple
and meaningful things in life. She loved tending to her flowers, taking pride in every bloom.

She gave her time to helping others through volunteering. She
loved to sing especially in choirs and cherished any opportunity to sing in church.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff and caregivers
who lovingly helped care for Joan, offering her comfort, dignity and
kindness. Their compassion and support will always be remembered.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 15 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at St.
Paul’s By the Sea, United Church in Fairhaven. A celebration of Joan’s life will be
held on Tuesday, December 16that 2 pm also at St. Paul’s By The Sea, United
