    January 31, 1930 – July 15, 2018

    Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on July 15, 2018, Ruby Louise Newhook of Norman’s Cove in her 88th year. Predeceased by her parents, John and Winnie Piercey and infant son, John. Left to celebrate her life with beautiful and loving memories, her husband of seventy years, Absalom John. Her children: Linda (Aaron Mercer), Roger (Beulah), David (Lori), Eric (Valerie), Jennie (Lloyd), Philip (Karen), Keith (Laurie), Peter (Donna). 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; Sisters: Jennie (Jim Varner), Myrtle Hiscock, Doreen (Dick Riche) and brother Don (Winnie). Brother in Law: Joseph, sisters sin law: Verna and Hazel as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

    Visitation on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the Good Shepherd Anglican Church. Funeral service to be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday; interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Norman’s Cove.

    The legacy she left behind with all of the children, grand-children, great grand children is amazing. I have so many fond memories of Aunt Ruby. I remember people showing up around meals and she'd feed anyone that would show up. There was always enough for everyone. Love you Aunt Ruby, you surely gained your wings. My thoughts are with everyone.
