  • It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Frederick Pretty of Chapel Arm
    who passed peacefully at the age of 76, surrounded by family at the Health Sciences Center on
    December 29th, 2023. Predeceased by his parents, Ellen and Thomas; his parents that raised
    him, Victoria and John Albert; his brothers Theodore (Ted) and Glen; and his step-sister Estelle.
    Left with cherished memories are his loving wife of 55 years, Phyllis; children John (Bernadine),
    Perry (Paula), Tracey (Glenn); grandchildren Amy, Ryan, Jenna, Laura, Riley, Ethan, Maria,
    Bella and Jack.
    Also left with many memories are his siblings Patsy, Geraldine, Willeen, Brenda, Gerard
    (Helen), as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
    John was loved by all who knew him, time spent with him always left you with a smile. John
    loved to spend time outdoors whether it be fishing, hunting, or camping with his family and
    special friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May his memory be a source of
    comfort and inspiration to all the lives he touched.
    Sincere appreciation to the nurses, doctors and staff of the Health Sciences Center 4NA for their
    care and support these past few weeks.
    Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 31st, 2023 at Holloway’s funeral from 2:00 pm –
    4:00 pm. A service to celebrate John’s life will occur on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024 at 11:00
    am at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Chapel Arm.
    Donations may be made in John’s memory to St. Joseph’s cemetery in Chapel Arm.

    So sad to hear of my friend John’s passing, his family ( sons are close friends of mine). I got to spend a bit of time with John when he was salmon fishing, especially got to have a beer or 2 with him, he so appreciated life and family. You left an impression on me and anybody who spent time around you, forever missed but lives in his family left behind

    Phyllis and Family so sorry to hear the news of John's passing John and yourself raised a beautiful family and I am sure the trend will continue.     Uncle John was a huge part of my early childhood and a massive positive influence for me growing up. I know he was so very proud of his family and I consider myself blessed to be counted amongst those he nurtured and cared for. God bless.
